David Rowe

David Rowe, Artist

David is a painter in traditional watercolour.

His love for this medium began whilst working in Dubai as an architect preparing representational watercolour perspectives before the age of computers and the internet. The subject matter was invariably based upon buildings and coastal scenes

David later relocated to the coastal area of Fife, again surrounded by fishing villages, boats and harbours

A recent three year course at Falmouth to study Fine Art has led to a change of direction.

The starting point of the work is to identify the key elements of the subject in terms of form composition, tone and colour. These elements are then simplified to move away from the representational to present a more abstract impression of the original, whilst taking maximum advantage of the underlying white of the paper.
